Louie Zuk
Louie Zuk, 93, Moose Lake, died Saturday, March 12, 2016 in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. He was born on October 7, 1922 in Sturgeon Lake Township to Anton and Katie Zuk. Louie attended Cherry Grove School and later Willow River High School. After school, he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps and later for a farmer. Louie was an Army Veteran of WWII serving in Germany. On May 29, 1948, Louie married Martha Wojtysiak in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Split Rock Twp. They lived in St. Paul where Louie worked for Seeger-Sunbeam. In 1952, they moved to Moose Lake and Louie worked at the Moose Lake State Hospital for 32 years retiring in 1984. He also dairy farmed through the years and later hobby farmed. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake. Louie enjoyed the Minnesota Twins, the Minnesota Vikings, and polka music. He also loved to garden and enter exhibits in the Carlton County Fair receiving numerous ribbons through the years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha; son: David; daughter-in-law: Linda Zuk; 4 brothers: Joe, Albert, Ted, and Stanley; 2 sisters: Martha Pec and Annie Zuk.
Louie will be lovingly remembered by his 5 children: Sharon (Dan) Olson of Willow River; Jeanette Sandstrom of Hermantown; Tom (Kim) Zuk of Dodge, ND; Barbara (Reggie) Anderson of Brainerd; and Paul (June) Zuk of Brainerd; daughter-in-law: Nancy Zuk of Moose Lake; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sister: Rosie Szustek of Braham; and two sisters-in-law: Mena Zuk of Moose Lake and Iola Wojtysiak of Grand Marias.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake. There will be a Rosary Service at 10 AM at the church. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Moose Lake.
