Obituary

Louise M. (Holm) Christensen, 91, Sandstone, died peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Essentia Health – Sandstone Health Center. She was born on April 9, 1921 in Richfield to Hans and Mettie (Mickelsen) Holm. She lived in Lakeville and later moved to Farmington where she attended school. In 1935, Louise moved to Sandstone. On June 14, 1942, Louise married Ove Christensen in Sandstone. They purchased her grandparents farm west of Sandstone where they lived for 65 years. Louise drove school bus for Red Cross swimming lessons at Grindstone Lake and also for the Sandstone School for over 37 years. She also volunteered for a number of years at Sandstone Youth Center. In September of 1997, Ove passed away and Louise remained on the farm. In September 2010, Louise moved to an apartment in Sandstone. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sandstone. Louise enjoyed making quilts, gardening, canning and freezing and baking chocolate chip and butterscotch cookies.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Ove; son: Paul; her parents; 2 brothers, Carl Holm and Walter Holm; sister-in-law, Melva Holm; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edith (Frands) Jensen and Chris (Dorothy) Christensen; brother-in-law, Harold Johnson; son-in-law, Donnie Nelson; grandson-in-law, Rick Wilson.

Louise will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Marie Nelson of Lino Lakes; Kathy (Jerry) Nelson of Isanti; and Rita (Jerry) Jensen of Isanti; 4 grandchildren, Justin Nelson, Deanna (Troy) Wilson-Bunes, Lance (Sara) Nelson and Trent (Ruth) Jensen; 2 great grandchildren, Kinsley Wilson and Mercadez Nelson; sister-in-law, Eleanor Johnson; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be from 4PM to 8PM on Friday, March 22, 2013 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Sandstone and continue from 10 am until the 11 AM funeral on Saturday, March 23, 2013 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Sandstone.
