LuAnn D. Olson

LuAnn D. Olson, 70, Barnum, formerly of Willow River, died Thursday, January 22, 2009 in Edinburg Regional Medical Center, Edinburg, TX. She was born on August 18, 1938 in Perham, MN to Erwin and Ella Fenske. LuAnn grew up in Ottertail, MN and attended Perham High School graduating in 1956. She later attended nursing school at St Luke's in Duluth graduating in 1959. On October 19, 1959, LuAnn married John E. Olson, Sr. in Finlayson. LuAnn worked as a nursing supervisor at Moose Lake State Hospital until 1976. LuAnn and John lived in Willow River until 1990 when they moved to Barnum. They also wintered in Texas since 1998. LuAnn was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cloquet and was a retired Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Teacher.

She was preceded in death by an infant sister and her parents: Erwin and Ella Fenske.

LuAnn will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 49 years: John Olson, Sr. of Barnum; two children: John Olson, Jr. of Barnum and Jeanine (Jeff) Olson of Willernie, MN; two grandchildren: Ben Olson and Alisha Olson whom was Grandma's "Little Angel" both of Willernie; a brother: Orlin (Connie) Fenske of Ottertail; brother-in-law: Glen (Gloria) Olson of Sturgeon Lake; and sister-in-laws: Bunny Olson of Sturgeon Lake and Bernita Olson of Hancock; and her special friend: Phyllis Borchardt of Willow River.

Visitation was from Noon until the 1 PM service on Thursday, January 29, 2009 in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 515 Skyline Blvd, Cloquet. Rev. David Hormann did officiate.
