Obituary

Lyle Edward Madsen, 85, resident of Moose Lake, died peacefully in his home surrounded by the love and care of his family on Thursday, September 23 rd , 2021. He was born in Ringsted, IA on August 8 th , 1936 to John P. and Lizzie E. Madsen.

Lyle was raised a hard worker, growing up working on numerous rural farms in the Midwest as a young man. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1956, serving our country on the U.S.S. Newport News, being honorably discharged in 1960. On May 18 th , 1963, Lyle married the love of his life, Judith Sebring, in the Apostolic Lutheran Church, Kettle River. Together, they raised two daughters, Shonna and Candee. They took many vacations, travelled the country, and spent a lot of quality time together as a family. In 1971, Lyle and Judy bought the family farm in Kettle River. He made his living out of his passion: dairy farming. Lyle also had a special love for sports: a Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan at heart. Lyle was a proud member of the Peterson-Westerberg American Legion Post #0415. He liked fishing and gardening, but more than anything, spending time with his family. Lyle was very proud of becoming a grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lizzie; and brothers, Marvin and Raymond Madsen.

Lyle is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judy; daughters, Shonna (Gary) Johnson and Candee (Andrew) Lehtola; grandchildren, Ashlee (fiancé, Garrett Haun) Hill, Brandon Fanning, and Garrett Johnson; great-grandchildren, Veronica Hill, Everett Haun, and Avery Haun; sister, Ruby Gilbertson; and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
