Mabel E. Cegla, 85, Moose Lake, died peacefully on Sunday, May 3, 2020 in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. She was born on April 19, 1935 in Giese, MN to Reinhold and Margaret Schoenrock. Mabel grew up in Giese and attended District 47 in Aitkin County and later attended Finlayson High School graduating in 1952. She worked at Montgomery Wards in St. Paul for a short time. On June 9, 1935, Mabel married Bernard Cegla in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Finlayson. They moved to West Allis, WI. In 1980, they moved to their home on Sand Lake near Moose Lake, MN. She was a member of St. Isidore's Catholic Church and had served on its Parish Council and its CCW. She loved cribbage, knitting, crocheting, and bingo.
Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard.
Mabel will be lovingly remembered by her son, Doug; daughter: Jane (Mike) Hattenberger; five grandchildren: Jacob (Elizabeth) Hattenberger, Andrew Hattenberger, Tim (Nicole) Cegla, Cortney Cegla, and Lindsey Cegla; two great grandchildren: Emma and Jackson Cegla; sisters-in-law: Margie Pietrzak, Arlene Gresczyk, Jean LaChance, and Carol Priem; brother-in-law: Ernie Cegla; and many cousins and friends.
Visitation without the family present due to COVID-19 will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2020 from 3-5 PM in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. A Private Family Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 7 in St. Isidore's Catholic Church. Friends may attend the burial at approximately 11:40 AM on Friday in St. Isidore's Catholic Cemetery, Sturgeon Lake. Please keep social distancing in mind when attending the visitation and burial.
