Mae Nancy (Molis) Fransen
Mae Nancy (Molis) Fransen, 98, Moose Lake, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake.
Mae was born in Duluth, MN on May 1, 1917. Her family moved to the Sturgeon Lake area in 1929. Mae married Albert Fransen in Duluth on June 2, 1936. They lived in the Denham and Sturgeon Lake area until 1955 when they moved to Moose Lake. Mae was primarily a homemaker and worked for the Department of Natural Resources "manning" a fire tower west of Moose Lake. Mae also assisted her husband at Al's Power Tools where she did bookkeeping duties and helped customers with parts.
Mae's hobbies included sewing, making patchwork quilts, and crocheting many dollies, Christmas tree angels, and snowflakes. She loved flower gardening and probably missed that most of all these past years. She also enjoyed her annual garage sales.
Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; parents: Ed and Anna Molis; brother: Ralph Molis; sisters: Dorothy "Dot" Swarmer and Lillian "Lill" Peterson; and an infant son.
She will be lovingly remembered by her 4 daughters: Shirley (David) Kangas of St. Paul; Phyllis (Richard) Benson of New Orleans, LA; Susan Fransen of St. Paul; and Christine Fransen of Moose Lake; 5 grandchildren: Jennifer, Jeffrey, Laura, Karin, and Jason; 5 great grandchildren: Michael, Courtney, Logan, Daniel, and Kate; a great great grandson: Leon; brother: Carl Molis of Salt Lake City, UT; nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from Noon until the 1 PM service on Monday, December 21, 2015 in the Evangelical Covenant Church, Moose Lake. Pastor Todd Van Zee will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Moose Lake.
