Marc "Mick" Johnson, 64, of Net Lake, Nickerson, died unexpectedly and peacefully on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at his home.  He was born on February 25, 1954 in Duluth to Alfred and Laura Johnson.  He grew up in the West End and graduated from Denfeld High School.  Marc attended Hibbing Police Academy and later returned to Duluth.  Marc married Jean LaPlante in Beaver Bay on November 26, 1993. He worked for many years as an UPS driver retiring in 2014.  Just before retiring, Marc moved to the family cabin on Net Lake near Nickerson that his dad built.  Marc truly enjoyed lake life and family gatherings at the cabin.  He loved snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, hanging out with his children and grandchildren and was known to create a great fireworks display.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Alfred and Laura Johnson and a brother: Tim Johnson.

Marc will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 25 years, Jean; 5 children: Luke (Jessica Bourgoyne) Johnson of Duluth; Rebecca (Brian) Backen of Duluth; Tony (Sarah Jackson) Halvorson of Duluth; Amanda (Cole) Heinzen of Two Harbors;  and Alisia (Marcus) Huss of Silver Bay; 11 grandchildren: Celia, Jaycee, Alexis, Britney, Cameron, Abigail, Dominic, Nicholas, Nevaeh, Alden, and Jacob; 5 step-grandchildren; brother: Larry (Paula) Johnson of Superior; 2 sisters: Connie (Dale) Gustafson of FL and Claudia Kuklis of GA; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be from Noon until the 1 PM Memorial Service on Monday, December 3, 2018 in Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 4831 Grand Ave., Duluth, MN.
