Marie Magdalena Johnson, 93, resident of Willow River, died on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake. She was born on May 14, 1925 in St. Paul, MN to Thomas and Laura (Gablanofsky) Capaul.

Marie was a kind lady who enjoyed visiting with her neighbors and family. She loved her poodle dogs, gardening, wearing hats and bright red lipstick, and was famous for being an early bird at local garage sales. Marie had a sweet tooth, always having chocolate and candy canes on hand. She was especially proud of her one and only son, Arthur.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Laura Capaul; husband, Walter Kropp in 1968; husband, Kerwin Johnson in 2005; brothers, Martin, Joe, and John Capaul; and sister, Catherine Scanlan.

She will be dearly missed by her son, Arthur R. Kropp; nieces and nephews; great-nieces; and special neighbors and friends, Bob and Marie Paulson and Rosie Mielke.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 11, 2019 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Willow River with visitation occurring one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Willow River.
