Obituary

Marilyn Bernice Edin

Marilyn Bernice Edin, 87, of Pine City, Minn., passed away peacefully at home in the loving arms of her family on Tuesday, July 12, 2016. She was born February 8, 1929, in Columbia Heights, Minn., to John and Cora Stover. Marilyn graduated from Bruno High School and moved to the Twin Cities to work as a telephone operator, a favorite adventure of hers. Marilyn was united in marriage to Olof "Enar" Edin on Sept. 29, 1951, in Nickerson. Together they farmed and raised six children in Duquette. She was an active member of her community and church, including serving as organist for many years at both the Bruno and Oak Lake Lutheran churches. She loved getting to know new people, was an avid reader, had an insatiable curiosity about all things earthly and heavenly, and was a loving seamstress and baker. Each year her family looked forward to the Christmas gift of Swedish flatbread (even though she was Norwegian and wasn't afraid to tease anyone who wasn't). Marilyn's love of animals was also an important part of her life; from bottle feeding orphans by the farmhouse woodstove at all hours to her later years filled with many special bird friends. But more than anything, Marilyn is remembered for her kind, loving and gentle spirit, easy laughter, love of music, and gift of gab.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Olof "Enar"; sister, Mildred; brothers Clifford, Walter and Kenneth; and infant son, John.

Marilyn lives on in the lives of her eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
