Mary Ann Jakobs, formerly of Clara City and Minneapolis, MN, current resident of Moose Lake, age 93, died peacefully in Augustana Mercy Healthcare Center on Thursday, November 4 ^th , 2021.

She was born in Clara City on May 27 ^th , 1928 to August and Josephine (Svoboda) Fried. Mary was raised on the family farm on the outskirts of Clara City. She was united in marriage to Willie Jakobs on June 22 ^nd , 1948 in the Church of St. Clara: to their union, 11 children were born. Mary devoted her life to being a stay-at-home mother and homemaker. She also worked for 18 years at Lunds Bakery in Minneapolis, a job she truly loved. Mary had a deep passion for reading, and was known for looking up any words in the dictionary that she didn't know. She was a Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan at heart and watched many, many games on TV. Above all, Mary looked forward to visiting with her family whether on the phone or seeing them in person.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Jakobs in 1997; brothers, Lawrence and August; parents, August and Josephine; and special friend, Rodger.

Her memory will be cherished by her children, David (Debbie) Jakobs, Pat (John) Hansen, Dan (Carol) Jakobs, Doug (Chris) Jakobs, Robert (Patricia) Jakobs, Diane Hayward, Debra (Dave) Curry, Nancy (Kerry) Spencer, Jerry (Wendy) Jakobs, Julie Rentsch, and Paul Jakobs; countless grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren whom she loved deeply; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A visitation to honor Mary's life will be held on Wednesday, November 10 ^th , 2021 from 10:00am until the 11:00am Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Willow River. Interment will follow immediately in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
