Mary Ellen Piette
Mary Ellen Piette, 89, Moose Lake, died peacefully on Friday, April 22, 2016 in Barnes Care Assisted Living, Esko with her family by her side. She was born on February 15, 1927 in Burlington, Iowa to Joseph and Mildred McBride. Mary grew up in Nauvoo, IL and attended school in Carthage, IL. She entered the Army Nurse's Corp and began her nursing training and later received her RN Degree and worked in Galesburg, IL. On July 20, 1949, Mary married the love of her life, James "Don" Piette in Carthage, IL and continued sharing this love for 60 years. They lived in Moose Lake where Mary worked with Dr. Moe and later at Mercy Hospital until retiring in 1982. She loved her family, gardening, baking, and playing bridge. Mary was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and St. Ann's Guild. She was also a member of Moose Lake American Legion Auxiliary for 55 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Don" Piette; 2 children: Connie Elizabeth and Theresa Ann; brother: Joseph "Vincent" McBride; her parents: Joseph and Mildred McBride; and 2 brother-ion-laws: Carl Wilkens and Gerald Dye.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her 7 children: Joseph (Diane); James E. (Jill); Paul (Shirlee); John; Michael (Kelly); Michelle (Tim) Michaelson; Martha (Brent) Edgmond; 12 Grandchildren: David (Laura); Abby; Gena (Dan); Cynthia (Jason); Michael Paul (Shelby); Christopher (Sarah); Matthew (Emily); Sean; Nikolai (Sierra); Alyssa; Ian; and CJ; 5 Great Grandchildren: Chase, Iver, Cole, Owen, and Clark; and a great granddaughter coming in August; 3 sisters: Ann Wilkens; Ruth Burkert; and Theresa Dye; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be from 5-7 PM with a Rosary service at 7 PM Wednesday, April 27 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake and continue from 10 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, April 28 in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Moose Lake.
