Obituary

Maurice Noel Bennett, 93 of Willow River passed away peacefully on May 9, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was born on December 25, 1921 in Catawba, WI to Herbert and Antoinette (Beaumier) Bennett.


He began his working career in the cheese business at his father's creamery in Willow River and Rutledge, and then worked construction with M.A. Mortenson until his retirement.

Maurice married Mary Rose DeRungs on October 16, 1948. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. Maurice was a life long member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Willow River where he served as a trustee for many years. He was also a member of the American Legion, VFW, Lions Club and charter member of Knights of Columbus council #4798

Maurice was very loving, generous, kind and was always willing to help others.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Rose; brothers, Gerald and Bill; sisters Jacquie and Betty.

Maurice is survived by his children, Michael (Nancy), Mary Jean "Jeanie" (Jim) Mach, Stephen (Diane), Maureen (Brad) Luiken, Gregory (Jan), Jerome (Sandy), Gerard (Kathleen), Majella (Kevin) Coil, Peter (Penny) and Joseph; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Joan (Frank) Tschida-Bonde; also many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 5 - 8 pm with a Rosary Service at 8 pm in Hamlin Hansen Kosloski Funeral Home, 609 Folz Blvd, Moose Lake. The visitation will continue on Friday, May 15, 2015 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial in St. Isidore's Catholic Church, Hwy 61, Sturgeon Lake, MN.
