Maynard Joseph Holcomb, 72, of Willow River, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, January 29, 2015 at his home. He was born September 28, 1942 in Elmira Township to Miles and Armella (Boury) Holcomb. Maynard is a Vietnam Veteran of The United States Army. Maynard was united in marriage to Barbara Watters on June 3, 1965 in St. Paul. Maynard worked at Keebler for 30 years until retiring in 1999. Maynard was a member of the Sturgeon Lake-Denham American Legion Post #361. Maynard enjoyed camping, fishing, cross stitch, embroidery and walking in the woods. He especially enjoyed time with his family and friends.
Maynard is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his father, Miles Holcomb; step father, Harry Holcomb.
Maynard is survived by 3 children, Michael (Linda) Holcomb of Rice Lake, WI, Dorine (Richard) Groat of Rice Lake, WI and Jessica (Jason) Hensel of Cameron, WI; mother, Armella Holcomb of Cambridge; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; siblings, Myron (Lorraine) Holcomb of Pine City, Michelle Hruska of Cambridge, Shirlene (Roger) Jilek of Ellsworth, WI and Lawrence Holcomb of St. Paul; many nieces and nephews and his dog, Jake.
A Graveside Service for Maynard and Barbara with Military Honors will be held Friday, February 20 at 1 PM at assembly area #2 in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
