Michael David Adelsgruber
Michael David Adelsgruber, 57, Kettle River, died on Friday, May 12, 2017 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake with his wife by his side. He was born on November 16, 1959 in Sandstone to James and Madelyn Adelsgruber. Mike grew up in Automba Twp. on the farm and attended school in Kalevala Twp. and later Cromwell High School graduating in 1977. He enlisted in the United States Navy from 1976 until 1986 when he began serving through the United States Naval Reserves until 2003. Mike had attained the rank of Chief and was proud of his title MMC Adelsgruber, USNR. Mike worked for South Shore Construction from 1986 until 1991 when he began working for Moose Lake State Hospital in the powerhouse and continued working for the Minnesota Department of Corrections until August 2016. Mike also logged and farmed through the years. Mike was united in marriage to Janet Thieling Langhorst on July 25, 2009 in Kettle River. Through the years, Mike enjoyed elk hunting, logging, trapping, snowmobiling, cards, and just being outdoors. He always stated that he wanted to be a farmer but had to work so he could afford it! During the last part of his life, Mike made his dreams come true and was happy knowing he could spend all day doing what he loved, being a farmer. He took a trip everyday by being on his farm. Mike was positive and upbeat during his journey and remained a "matter of fact" person who talked to others about his courageous battle.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Adelsgruber; brother: Walter Adelsgruber; and a grandson: Jared Andren.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Janet; four children: Tresta (Mark) Andren; Jeremy Adelsgruber; Amy Adelsgruber; and Mark Adelsgruber; three step-children: Travis (Jamie) Langhorst; Lucas (Desiree Warpula) Langhorst; Jesse (Jodi) Langhorst; mother: Madelyn Adelsgruber; 8 grandchildren; brother: Gregory (Barbara) Adelsgruber; James (Deb) Adelsgruber; sister: Mary (Vern) Nordlund; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.
