Obituary

Mildred "Millie" Isaacson, 86, of Cromwell, formerly of Kettle River, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016 in Mercy Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born April 12, 1929 in rural Kettle River to David and Alma (Keinanen) Saarela. She grew up in the Kettle River area, graduating from Moose Lake High School. Millie was united in marriage to Niilo Isaacson on October 12, 1947 in Kettle River. Millie was a homemaker, 4H Leader and later worked at the Willow River Tree Nursery. Millie also worked in the kitchen at the Barnum Elementary School and as a home health aide. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Kettle River where she also taught Sunday School for many years. Millie was also a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Mission Guild and Kettle River American Legion Auxiliary. Millie was selected to be Ma Kettle along with Niilo as Pa Kettle during the 2003 Ma & Pa Kettle Days. Over the years, Millie enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, gardening, reading, putting together puzzles, playing board games, going to rummage sales, traveling to various sites throughout the United States, helping Niilo process maple syrup and especially spending time with family and friends.

Millie is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Fern.

Millie will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her husband of 68+ years, Niilo Isaacson of Cromwell; daughters, Faye (Joe) Mancuso of Gig Harbor, WA and Phyllis Isaacson of Crystal; son, David (Lois) Isaacson of Kettle River; grandchildren, Sean Kilpela of Duluth, Justin Kilpela of Cloquet, Jason (Jodi) Isaacson of Sandstone and Dara (Kent) Swanson of Hibbing; great grandchildren, Justine, Samantha, Deanna, Ariel, Kaylee, Tate, Cole, Genevieve, Brynn and Brooke; sister, Eila (Charles) Anderson of Duluth along with many extended family and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 2, from 10 AM until the 11 AM Service in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.

Spring Interment will be in Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Kettle River.
