Milton R. Kiminski
Milton R. Kiminski, 80, Moose Lake, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. He was born on March 14, 1931 in Bremen Twp., Pine County to Peter and Evelyn Kiminski. Milton attended school in Bremen Twp. and later worked as a logger in Northern Minnesota. He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean Conflict and later served in the Marine Corps Reserves. After serving his country, Milton began working at Elliott's Meat Packing in Duluth where he worked for 20 years. On February 2, 1957, Milton married Maxine Petersen in Holy Family Catholic Church, Moose Lake. They lived in Esko where Milton owned and operated Kiminski Cement Works as a self employed cement contractor. He also co-owned the River Inn in Scanlon with his son, Steve from 1991 until 1999. Milton and Maxine moved to Sand Lake in 1991 where they built their fourth home. They loved to travel throughout the United States with their pull behind camper and often wintered in Florida. Milton loved to hunt and fish and was known as the best crappie fisherman on Sand Lake. He also had a passion to play cards especially Smear and belonged to a Card Club for over 40 years that he helped start. Milton was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Moose Lake, Knights of Columbus in Cloquet, Moose Lodge 1274 in Cloquet, and was a Life Member of the Carlton VFW.
Milton is preceded in death by his parents: Peter and Evelyn Kiminski; a sister and brother-in-law: Justina and Ed Hrbek; and a brother-in-law: Tony DeRungs.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Maxine; four children: Steve Kiminski of Duluth; Teri Kiminski of Proctor; Kenneth (Candi) Kiminski of Esko; and Tammy (Joe) Vinje of Duluth; eight grandchildren: Christy (Mike) Jungbauer, Kyle (Erin) Kiminski, Chad Kiminski, Mandi (Luke) Fontaine, Josh Kiminski, Derrick Kiminski, Sean Vinje, and Jason Vinje; five great grandchildren: Carolyn, Kameron, Kyleigh, Brendyn, and Sean; a sister: Deloris DeRungs of Willow River; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 from 9 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake. Burial with Full Military Honors was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Willow River. Memorials are preferred.
