Myrtle E. Nystrom, 101, of Windemere Township, died Friday, July 30, 2010 in Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. She was born August 14, 1908 in Windemere Township to Sievert and Lena (Nelson) Overland. Myrtle spent her life on the Nystrom Family Farm and taught at several local country schools. Myrtle was united in marriage to Kenneth Nystrom on June 14, 1941 in Sturgeon Lake. She was a devoted member of Moose Lake United Methodist Church as well as a member of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed cooking, canning, baking bread and cookies and making divinity candy during Christmas.
Myrtle is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents; 3 sisters, Clara, Sigrid and Irene; 2 brothers, Alfred and Harold; daughter-in-law, Emilie Nystrom.
Myrtle is survived by 2 sons, Jon (Diane Jacobson) Nystrom of Sturgeon Lake and Kenneth "K.C." (Diane Huhta) Nystrom of Sturgeon Lake; grandchildren, Cheryl Nystrom of Wyoming, Dr. Ken (Stephanie) Nystrom of Kingston, NY, Jon (Kieran) Nystrom. Jr., of Faribault and Dean Huhta of Wyoming; great grandchildren, Alexandria, Natasha, Zachary, Miles, Lucy, Kaitlyn, Ronan and Evelyn; 1 great great grandson, Maximus; 6 step grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was on Tuesday, August 3, from Noon until the 1 PM service in Moose Lake United Methodist Church. Interment was in Blomskog Cemetery, Windemere Township.
