Nancy C. Hanson
Nancy C. Hanson, 76, Barnum, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake of complications from a courageous 10-year battle with Parkinson's Disorder. She was born on September 10, 1941 to Donald and Lola Peterson in Minneapolis where she grew up and attended Roosevelt High School graduating in 1959. Nancy graduated in 1963 from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She taught art in Rochester and later Bloomington. On July 2, 1970, Nancy married Robert Hanson in Minneapolis, which all started from a blind date. Nancy and Robert had a great love for each other. As a devoted Navy wife, Nancy graced Robert's life for 47 years as the love of his life. They lived in Washington, Hawaii, and later San Diego until 1983 when they retired and moved to Barnum fulfilling their lifelong dream of living in the woods. Nancy worked as a librarian in Barnum School and substituted in the school districts of Barnum, Moose Lake, Carlton, and Cromwell. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and its Ladies Circle and the Moose Lake Historical Society where she was President for 3 years.
Nancy is preceded in death by her father: Donald Peterson.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 47 years, Robert; son: Eric (Sara) Hanson of West Roxbury, MA; granddaughter: Charlotte Hanson of West Roxbury, MA; grandson: Nick Wlodychak of San Diego; mother: Lola Peterson of New Hope; and brother: James (Judith) Peterson of Bloomington.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 10 am until the 11 am Memorial Service on Friday, December 1, 2017 in Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake. Memorials are preferred to the Moose Lake Historical Society. Inurnment will be later in the United States Naval Academy Cemetery in Annapolis, Maryland. The family wants to extend its sincere gratitude to Augustana Mercy Health Care Center, St Croix Hospice, and Dr. Dania Kamp for their amazing care of Nancy.
