Nova A. Mohelsky, 82, Kettle River, MN, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018. She was born November 30, 1935 to Ellis and Evelyn (Olson) Whiting. Nova was raised in Sturgeon Lake and graduated from Willow River High School in 1954. She attended St. Luke's School of Nursing and graduated as an RN in 1957. Nova worked as a RN over 30 years with the last 23 years at Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake. She married Roger Mohelsky August 20, 1960 in Moose Lake.
Nova and Roger raised their family in Kettle River. Her passion was gardening both vegetables and flowers. They enjoyed attending country and polka music events. Hosting parties at their home for every occasion demonstrated her caring and compassion as a mother.
Nova is survived by her husband of 58 years Roger; daughters Cindy (Joe Kachinske) Asleson, Gail Pfluger, Brenda (Tom) Urbanski; son David; grandchildren Amanda Pfluger, Elizabeth Asleson, Sara (Jeff) Storkamp, Kayla & Aaron Mohelsky, Emily & Allison Urbanski; 5 great grandchildren; sisters Bev (Kenny) Johnson, Sue Sobczak; sister-in-law Carmen Whiting; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Butch Whiting and brother-in-law Daniel Sobczak.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Moose Lake. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlin Hansen Kosloski Funeral Home in Moose Lake and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Moose Lake.
