Olga Baker

Olga Baker, 89, Barnum, died peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2009 in Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. She was born on September 20, 1919 to Olaf and Vendela Swanson in Blackhoof Twp. where she grew up and attended school. After school, Olga remained in Blackhoof Twp. and worked for farmers in the area. On March 3, 1938, Olga married Harold Baker in Blackhoof Twp. Olga was a homemaker through the years and also farmed with her husband Harold. She also worked at the Junction Oasis in Carlton as a waitress. Olga loved going out to eat, her flower gardens, and camping. She was an active member of Elim Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the Women's Group, and enjoyed quilting. Olga also loved to gather with her "Birthday Club' friends.

Olga was preceded in death by her parents; a son: Harry: sister: Vera Selen; and six brothers: Gust Swanson, Pete Swanson, Erland "Cap" Swanson, Kurt Swanson, Hjalmar "Dick" Swanson, and Toge Swanson.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 71 years, Harold; numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and many friends.

Visitation was held from 5-7 PM Thursday, August 27, 2009 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake and continue from 10 AM until the 11 AM service on Friday, August 28, 2009 in Elim Lutheran Church, Blackhoof Twp. Pastor John Sippola did officiate. Burial was held in Sandy Lake Cemetery, Blackhoof Twp.
