Opal Ione (Fostervold) Lief, 90, of Owatonna, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, . She was born May 18, 1924 in Litchville, ND to Ole and Inga (Olson) Fostervold. Opal moved to Willmar as a child and graduated from Willmar High School. She was united in marriage to Ole Lief and spent the majority of her adult life in Moose Lake, MN. She worked at Mercy Hospital for many years in the business office. Opal enjoyed gardening, knitting, and was an avid reader. Her family will remember many wonderful 4th of July parties at her home as well as many other holidays. She was an excellent cook and will live on through many of her recipes! Opal will be missed by her family and many friends.

Opal is preceded in death by her husband Ole, and 8 of her 10 siblings.

Opal is survived by her 2 children, Linda (David) Peterson and Jeff Lief; grandchildren, John (Lisa) Honigschmidt, Tim Honigschmidt, Jannette Peterson, Liz (Chris) Skilbeck, Asia (Chris) Johnson, and Laura (Dustin) Sieben and their mother Becky Lief-Kuster; and great-grandchildren: Hanna and Jacob Honigschmidt, Charlotte and Tommy Skilbeck, Carter, India, and Ledger Johnson, and Brynlee and Everlee Sieben; 2 sisters, Harriet Baklund and Ruth Westphal, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
