Owen W. Petersen, 76, of Willow River passed away peacefully Friday, June 27, 2025 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born September 8,1948 to Albert and Myra (Hammer) Petersen in Sandstone, MN.

He grew up on the family farm in the Askov Bruno area until he enlisted in the United States Army at age 17. He served his country for 3 years and upon his return he started a trucking company that he continued to operate until the day he died. Owen married the love of his life Betty Morgan on April 11,1975 in Pine City.

Owen enjoyed gardening, going to auctions, driving his tractor, and spending time going to coffee shaking dice with the crew at Dave's Cafe. He especially enjoyed his adventures in his truck traveling the countryside and finding all his favorite restaurants along the way.

Owen was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Myra; and brother, Freddy Petersen.

He is survived by his wife of over 50 years Betty Petersen; children, Jodie Hessenius of Willow River, Dustin Petersen of Willow River, and Crystal Peterson of Chisago City; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Visitation: 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Hamlin Hansen Kosloski Funeral Home, 609 Folz, Blvd., Moose Lake. The Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 6318, Kirke Alle Ext, Askov, MN.
