Obituary

Pastor Robert A. Engstrom, 72, of Moose Lake, died Saturday, July 24, 2010 in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth. He was born December 20, 1937 in Des Moines, IA to Sigfrid and Ida (Stenstrom) Engstrom. Bob graduated from Edina East High School in 1956. He went on to Gustavus Adolphus College, graduating in 1960 and Augustana Seminary, graduating in 1964. Bob was married to Louise Eckman on December 30, 1960 in Duluth. Bob served as Mission Pastor at House of Prayer in Clear Lake City, TX and Joy Lutheran Church in Richmond, TX. He then served at Salem Lutheran Church of Minneapolis, Cambridge Lutheran Church and Elim Lutheran Church of Scandia until his retirement in 2001. Bob loved life and everything about it. He loved his church family as his own and enjoyed fishing in Canada with his buddies.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; 2 grandchildren, Marcus and Jason Engstrom; 1 niece, Inger Louise Eckman; sister-in-law, Linda Eckman-Lundgren.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Louise Engstrom of Moose Lake; 3 sons, John and his wife Joan Engstrom, Robert M. Engstrom and Peter S. Engstrom; 1 daughter, Kathryn L. Engstrom-Welch and her husband Corby Welch; 8 grandchildren, Christina, Anna, Erik, Chandra, Michael, Braeden, Emma and Clarabel; 1 brother, John and his wife Char Engstrom; 1 sister, Nancy Hinkley; brother-in-law, Phil and his wife Julie Eckman; many nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends was on Wednesday, July 28, from 1:30 PM until the 3:30 PM Memorial Service in Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake.
