Pearl E. Newman
Pearl E. Newman, 99, Minneapolis, formerly of Kettle River, died on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 in Walker Methodist Health Care Center, Minneapolis. She was born in Kettle River on October 14, 1912 to Andrew and Maria Newman. Pearl grew up in the Kettle River area and was a Survivor of the 1918 Fire. She graduated from Barnum High School and later moved to the Twin Cities. During WWII, Pearl worked at Federal Cartridge in New Brighton. She later worked as a waitress for Murray's in Minneapolis. In 1957, Pearl began living with her sister, Hulda and they lived independently until Pearl was 97. She was a phenomenal cook and also loved walking the dogs that her and Hulda cherished.
Pearl was preceded in death by three sisters: Mable Anderson, Alma Price, and Violette Newman; two brothers: Walfred Newman and Walter Newman; and a nephew: Terry Keeler.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sister: Hulda Keeler of West St. Paul; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was from 10 am until the 11 AM funeral on Friday, October 28, 2011 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Pastor David Nelson officiated. Burial was held in Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Kettle River.
