Pearl Elizabeth Peterson
Pearl Elizabeth Peterson, 92, of Denham, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2012 at Augustana Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake, MN. She was born May 27, 1920 in Duluth to Arthur and Elizabeth Johnson. Pearl worked in Duluth prior to being united in marriage to Theodore "Ted" Peterson on August 16, 1941 in Birch Creek Township. Pearl and Ted operated a dairy farm in Birch Creek Township for many years, with Pearl being very active with the farm, before retiring to Denham. In 1978, Pearl and Ted built their log retirement home, which Ted only enjoyed for a year before passing away. Pearl went on to work as a bookkeeper for the Askov Coop, Region Electric, Star Gazette, and Arrowhead Leader.
Pearl was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Sturgeon Lake, Lutheran Church of Women America (LCWA), and the "Homemakers." She enjoyed gardening, fishing, sewing (quilting), baking (rye bread and birthday cakes for family were her specialties), picking berries, playing scrabble, and especially spending time with grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; her parents, Arthur and Elizabeth Johnson; granddaughters, Diana Gibson, Martha and Mary Peterson; and brother Art Johnson.
Pearl is survived by children, Darrell Peterson of Fairbanks, Alaska, Stanley (Beverly) Peterson of Willow River, Warren (Eileen Kosa) Peterson of Willow River, and Elaine (James) Gibson of Sturgeon Lake; sister, Doris Fredrickson of Moose Lake; brother, Dennis (Louise) Johnson of Sturgeon Lake; 12 grandchildren, Jamie (Annette) Gibson, Kim Gibson, Jerry Gibson, Karie (Peter) Madsen, Joe Gibson, Darren Peterson, Roxanne (Nathan) Sheets, Fawn Peterson, Mike (Shelly) Peterson, Dan (Faith) Peterson, Connie (Mike) Mikrot, Matt Peterson, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, July 16, from 5 pm to 7 pm in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake and will continue Tuesday July 17, from 10 am until the 11 am Service at Faith Lutheran Church, Sturgeon Lake. Interment will be at Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Birch Creek Township.
