Obituary

PETER PAUL JUSCZAK

Peter Paul Jusczak was born on June 29, 1920 on a farm in Split Rock Township homesteaded by his parents and grandparents as direct immigrants from Poland. Theirs was a large, hardworking, close knit family consisting of seven brothers and four sisters. Peter married Elaine (Berglund) Jusczak in Grand Marais, MN, on June 12, 1948.

He is survived by the following loving siblings: Florence Hautajarvi, Ambrose (Delores) Jusczak and Anton (Linda) Jusczak. Peter's siblings that have passed on were Victor, Chester, Gertrude, Regina, Edmund, Frank Jr., and Lucille Jusczak. Peter's parents were Frank Sr. and Frances Jusczak.

Peter served as an Army Medic with the "10th Mountain Medical Battalion" in World War II between 1944-1946 and was awarded the Bronze Star. Peter owned and managed several successful businesses throughout his 94 years of life. These included logging throughout northern MN, a gas transport trucking line and an excavating and heavy equipment company which included projects for the expansion of the Moose Lake State Hospital and Moose Lake Golf Course. His life's passion, however, was always agriculture which led him to establishing a dairy operation unique to the area at the time in its use of technology as well as crop management practices. He served on several agricultural related Boards and Committees throughout the years. "Pete" continued to drive his beloved John Deere tractors and his haybine into his nineties and always grew a fabulous vegetable garden and pumpkin patch until May of 2014 when he joined his wife Elaine of 67 years in Augustana.

Peter Paul Jusczak died Monday, February 9, 2015 in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake.

Peter and Elaine's children are Karyn (David) Oachs, Rosalyn (Gregory) Evenson, Ronald (Roxanne) Jusczak and Mavis (Clay Kim) Hartman.
Peter was so very proud of his grandchildren: Peter K. (Kim) Jusczak, Barnum, MN, Isaac (Ashley) Hartman of Pine City, MN, Lucas (Jennifer) Jusczak of Moose Lake, MN, Aaron M. Hartman of Pinehurst, NC., Danielle (Brent) Larson of Moose Lake, MN, Aleshia (Ryan) Pena of Plymouth, MN and Travis Jusczak of Raleigh, NC.
Peter treasured the visits and picnics that included his great grandchildren: Julia, Jorja and Jenna Jusczak, Aiden, Raegen and Brennen Larson, Lucy and Wyatt Hartman and Tessa Pena.
Peter especially enjoyed afternoon coffee at Art's with his brothers and buddies over the many years of his life and he had many fun memories there.

Peter and family attended West Side Church in Kettle River and were devoted to their faith in Christ. A private burial and festival of life family picnic reunion will occur in the summer of 2015.

We thank the physicians and staff of Gateway Family Health Clinic, Ltd., Augustana, and St. Croix Hospice for their excellent care, attention and kindness over the years.

We ask that memorials be directed to the Mercy Foundation in Peter's memory.
