Randall James
Booker
March 14, 1966 – September 26, 2024
Randall James Booker, 58, Moose Lake, peacefully lost his battle with cancer on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Essentia Hospital, Moose Lake with his mom by his side.
He was born to Jim and Elaine (Drahosh) Booker on March 14, 1966 in Moose Lake, MN. Randy attended school in Sturgeon Lake and later in Willow River, graduating in 1984. He worked for Art Underhill burying cable in Kansas. He then attended MN School of Business in Minneapolis. Randy also drove truck on the weekends for his parent's business, Jim Booker Construction. On June 14, 1985, Randy sustained life changing injuries from an automobile accident. Although he faced life challenges during rehabilitation, Randy kept an amazing positive view on life and was very happy becoming independent for daily life. He worked hard at Polinsky Rehab in Duluth and later at Golden Valley Courage Center. Randy worked at 3M in Maplewood from 1994-2012 and was so proud of his job. His dream was to work at 3M before his accident and Steve Kuntz made that dream into reality. In 2014, he moved to Moose Lake where he enjoyed being part of the community. In November of 2020, Randy received his cancer diagnosis and again faced the challenges with courage as he fought a valiant battle with much dignity and grace.
His nieces and nephews were his greatest joy, although the Vikings came in at a close 2nd.
Randy loved people and he could talk to anyone at any time as if he knew them forever. He was never afraid to give you that big smile and let you know what was happening in his life.
He is preceded in death by his dad, Jim Booker in 2011.
Randy will be lovingly remembered by his mom, Elaine Booker; sisters: Noreen (Mike) Terry, Colleen (Bruce) Smith, and Roxanne (Luke) McLeod; nieces and nephews: Megan (Travis) Rothstein, Chris (Callan) Smith, Alex (Alanna) Smith, Jessica (Maverick) Svacina, Ryan Adamczak, Tony (Michala) Adamczak, and Alex (Brandon) Mann; great-nephews: Barrett Svacina and Warren and Hank Mann.
The family would like to thank all his caregivers throughout his cancer journey. They would also like to especially thank the nursing staff at Essentia and Dr. Tekippe who kept him comfortable in his final days.
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 9-11 am at Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake. Services will follow at 11 am at Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake. After the service, lunch will be served at the Hope Lutheran Church Social Hall. Private Burial will be in Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Birch Creek Twp.
