Ray M. Lampel, 80, of Moose Lake, died Tuesday, February 7, 2012 in Essentia St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth. He was born September 3, 1931 in Kettle River to Arvi and Lillian (Ronkainen) Lampel. Ray was a veteran of The United States Navy, serving on a ship called the Grand Canyon. Ray was united in marriage to Donna Leino on December 21, 1957 in Moose Lake. Ray was a truck driver for many years. After retiring, Ray and Donna traveled for 15 years to various parts of the country, going south every winter. Ray enjoyed going to auctions, fishing on Lake Superior and Lake Michigan as well as ice fishing. Ray also participated in the Vintage Snowmobile Run.

Ray is preceded in death by his wife, Donna; father, Arvi; 1 bother, Harvey.

Ray is survived by his mother, Lillian Lampel of Moose Lake; 2 daughters, Becky (George) Holt of Kettle River and Brenda (Peter) Weske of Kingston, ID; 2 sons, Jon (Kelly) Lampel of Kettle River and Tim Lampel of Kettle River; grandchildren, Cindy (Kelley), Amanda (John), Emily (Ric), Adam, Erik, Ben, Donna, Cody (Liz), Lily, Sophia, Garrett, Kady, Dylan (Christina), Megan and Wyatt; 10 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Betty (Jim) Lehet of Moose Lake and Gladyce Koivisto of Santa Maria, CA; nieces and nephews

A gathering of family and friends was held Saturday, February 11 from 2 PM until the 3 PM Memorial Service in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Moose Lake.
