Ray A. Miller
Ray A. Miller, 52, Kettle River, died peacefully on Saturday, July 16, 2016 after a courageous fight with cancer. He was born on June 22, 1964 in Moose Lake to Allen and Judy Miller. Ray attended Hayes Elementary in Fridley, MN and later attended Cromwell High School where he was active in football, basketball, and track. He worked for Automba Logging and Azcon Corp. for a short time prior to attending Dunwoody in Minneapolis. In 1987, Ray began working at C.A.P. in Kettle River until 1997. In 1997, Ray began working at Potlatch/Sappi in Cloquet where he was currently employed. Ray was a true outdoorsman. He loved 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, making hay and going on hunting and fishing trips. He went on elk hunting trips to Colorado and moose hunting trips to Isabella. Ray was a proud member of the East Kalevala Gun Club and loved the comradery amongst everyone especially during deer hunting. He was also an avid sports fan and loved watching basketball, golf, hockey, football, NASCAR and cheering on all of the MN sports teams.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Ruth & Carl Jacobson and Helen & William Miller; an aunt and uncle: Carol & Jack Hauck; and an uncle: Roger Jacobson.
Ray will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters: Taylor and Mackenzie both of Kettle River; mother: Judy of Moose Lake; father: Allen of Kettle River; sister: Dawn (Bob) Moffett of Moose Lake; nephews and nieces: Robby, Mercedes, and Bo; and numerous aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and many friends.
A memorial visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Thursday, July 21, 2016 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. A gathering of family and friends will be from 10 am until the 11 am memorial service on Friday, July 22, 2016 in Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake. Inurnment will be at 2 PM Friday in Leonard Cemetery, Kalevala Twp.
