Rhonda Kay Skelton

Rhonda Kay Skelton was born on March 26, 1966 to Ronald and Milly Peterson in Escondido, California.  At the age of 2, Rhonda moved with her family to Moose Lake where she grew up and attended Moose Lake High School graduating in 1984.  It was at school that Doug met Rhonda and knew he wanted to marry the girl whom he saw coming down the stairs and later would become the love of his life.  Rhonda attended Winona State for 2 years and later Normandale Community College where she graduated with her nursing degree.  She worked at Fairview Southdale Hospital for a short time.  On June 30, 1990, Rhonda married Doug at Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake.  In 1991, they moved to Moose Lake and Rhonda began working at Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake where she was currently the manager of the OB Department.  In 1994, Rhonda and Doug built a house with Rhonda's parents on Moosehead Lake.  Rhonda was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and was involved with the Women of Today.

Rhonda was very compassionate, loving, and dedicated to her family, mom's and their newborns and community. She loved spending time with her family whether it was making Christmas cookies or entertaining family and friends at holiday gatherings.  She enjoyed family vacations, working out, going for walks, reading, and enjoying the lake both at the cabin growing up and at her home with her family. While giving the gift of life to her husband, Rhonda peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016 in Mayo Clinic Hospital.

Rhonda was preceded in death by her mother: Milly Peterson; sister and brother-in-law: Tracy & Norman Bordine; and sister: Kim Peterson.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Doug; two daughters: Emma and Laura both of Moose Lake; father: Ronald (Betty) Peterson of Carlton; sister: Lisa (Ben) Snodgrass of Woodland, WA; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Gary & Betty Skelton of Moose Lake; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Keith & Yvonne Skelton of Moose Lake and Kristi Skelton of Moose Lake; nieces and nephews: Jason, Ethan, and Alicia Bordine; Tiffany Peterson, Shayne Schueller, Keshia, Kaleb, Cameron, and Kjersten Weisert; and Levi and Lilli Skelton; and numerous cousins, friends, and co-workers.

A Memorial Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Friday, December 2, 2016 in Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake and continue on Saturday, December 3, 2016 from 1 PM until the 2 PM Celebration of Life Service in Hope Lutheran Church.  Private family inurnment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Moose Lake.
