Richard James Cook, 68, of Moose Lake, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015 at his home. He was born January 26, 1947 in St. Cloud to Clarence and Ruth (Albright) Cook. Richard graduated from Silver Bay High School. He attended college at St. Cloud State University, Northland College in Wisconsin and the University of Minnesota Duluth. Richard was united in marriage to Barbara Powers on July 29, 1972 in Cloquet. Richard was a Principal for a combined 39 years at the following schools, Foley (where he also taught) , Wrenshall, Gilbert, Carlton and Barnum. Richard took great pride in his schools and was very involved in Carlton County. Richard also enjoyed traveling, sports and especially spending time with his family.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Judith Bondgien; mother and father-in-law, George and Ruth Powers.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Cook of Moose Lake; 2 daughters, Dr. Jessa Cook (Dr. Eric Bohjanen) of Duluth and Rachel Cook of Moose Lake; 1 grandchild, Hoyt Bohjanen; brother, David (Roberta) Cook of Duluth.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, December 18, from 4 PM until the 6:30 PM Prayer Service in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake and will continue Saturday, December 19, from 1 PM until the 2 PM Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at the church.
