Richard M. "Dick" Peterson, Sr.
Richard M. "Dick" Peterson, Sr., 73, Moose Lake, died peacefully with his family and friends by his side on Friday, September 17, 2010 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake. He was born on September 30, 1936 in Moose Lake to Melvin and Arlene Peterson. Dick grew up in Blackhoof Twp. and attended Central School and later Barnum High School. After school, Dick began working at Wood Conversion in Cloquet. On May 23, 1959, Dick married Elizabeth Carlson in Moose Lake. They lived in Blackhoof Twp. and later Barnum. Dick drove truck and picked up canned milk from 1965 until 1974. He later worked for Bob and Art Wills and Hi-Lo Acres. In 1985, Dick moved to Moose Lake. Before retiring, Dick worked for Champion Auto in Moose Lake. He was a member of the Barnum United Methodist Church of Barnum and a very proud member of the NRA. Most of all, Dick will be remembered by his children for being a Great Father.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth in 1993 and his parents: Melvin and Arlene Peterson.
He will be lovingly remembered by his three children: Charlene (Kerry) Flasch of Pine City; Rick (De) Peterson, Jr. of Moose Lake; and Randy (Janice LaFlash-Peterson) Peterson of Siren; three grandchildren: Amanda (Terry) Smoots; Tanaya Flasch, and Travis Flasch; a step granddaughter: Lisa Broten; a great granddaughter: Vanessa Smoots; four siblings: Don (Irene) Peterson; Bob (Judy) Peterson; Marlene (Vern) Keinanen; and Melvin (Chris) Peterson all of Barnum; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation was from 4-6 PM Thursday, September 23, 2010 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Cremation followed the visitation. A Memorial Service with his cremains present was held on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 1:00 PM in Barnum United Methodist Church. Pastor Gary Liker did officiate.
Inurnment was in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Moose Lake.
