Richard "Whitey" Williams
Richard "Whitey" Williams, 83, Sturgeon Lake, formerly of St. Paul, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake. He was born on January 21, 1935 to William and Elizabeth Williams in St. Paul where he grew up and attended school. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. Whitey worked as a tile setter for Local 18 throughout his life. On June 7, 1958, Whitey married Joan M. Williams. Joan died in 1994. Whitey married Johanna Williams on August 16, 1997 in St. Paul. They moved to Sturgeon Lake. Whitey loved hunting, fishing, and traveling. He was an incredible handyman. Whitey was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Holy Angels Catholic Church in Moose Lake where he sang in the Choir and did the tile work for the church. Whitey will be remembered for his amazing, kind and caring demeanor whom everyone loved.
Whitey will be remembered by his wife and care giver, Johanna Berg Williams of Sturgeon Lake; children: John (Debbie) Williams of White Bear Lake; Mark (Brenda) Williams of Stillwater; Roxanne (Perry) Hallmark of New Richmond, WI; William Berg of Inver Grove Heights; Donald Berg of Sturgeon Lake; Robert (Linda) Berg of Inver Grove Heights; Richard (Kristen) Berg of White Bear Lake; Steven (Raquel) Berg of Hastings; Douglas (Karen) Berg of Elk River; and Jennifer (James) Thul of Cottage Grove; grandchildren: Jesse, Justin, Cole, Kanen, Matt, Emily, Gina, Jamie, Melissa, Bill, Andrew, Carl, Bryan, Tim, Nick, Austin and Alex. 5 great grandchildren; sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service with Full Military Honors will be will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 11 AM in Assembly Area #5 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis followed by a Gathering of Family and Friends at the VFW Post 295, 111 Concord Exchange, South St. Paul. Memorials are preferred.
