Rick
Fjosne
March 10, 1951 – October 26, 2019
Rick Fjosne, age 68, resident of Willow River, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side after a long and brave battle with cancer on Saturday, October 26 th , 2019. He was born on March 10 th , 1951 to Willard and Lillian Fjosne in Moose Lake. Rick was the second eldest of 9 children.
He went to school in Cloquet and Moose Lake, and at age 16 moved to South Dakota to work for the Sutton Brothers' Ranch. Rick worked as a ranch hand and was a bull rider in the local rodeo. When he moved back to Minnesota, Rick married Mary Bartch. They made their home in Willow River. Rick worked for many places including Dale Wright, W.G. Rehbein, Dave's Oil, logging, Anoka International Beef and Turkey Farms, and over the years has been a sub-contractor for many different companies. In his early years, Rick was given a bulldozer that didn't work – he fixed it and started doing small jobs, then added more equipment and jobs until finally going into business himself. He started Fjosne Construction which is run by him and his three boys to this day.
Rick and Mary raised five children together, until Mary passed away in 1996. In 1997, Rick married Kathleen Dorau Chilton and they added three more children to the bunch. Rick's love for his children, step-children, grandkids, and great-grandkids has shown every day. He strived to do his best for them, always, because they are the most important thing in his life. Last but not least, is Rick's love for his pets; Chewy the bull, Spirit the dog, Tinker the cat, Lightning the horse, and all of his other horses, cows and cats. He even took care of any strays that would show up and would feed anything that came to his home.
Besides work, Rick loved watching Roy Rogers, The Lone Ranger, Hannity, and any westerns – especially McLintock on TV, or talking politics with anyone who would like to argue or agree with him.
You could not have had a more loyal friend than Rick. He had so many good friends and family that helped him through these past few years after being diagnosed with cancer, and even long before that – making hay, taking care of our animals, snow plowing, bringing some of his favorite foods over, and just keeping him company. There has not been one day in the last weeks that family and friends have not come to visit. His boys have worked hard to keep the business going and have made Rick very proud. Because of that, he has been able to take it easy this past year.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lil; and his first wife, Mary.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Kat; children: Ricky Jr., Misty (Dylan), Clint (Nicole), Blake (Soli) and Trevor; step-children, Chadd, Travis (Jenny), and Beth; grandchildren, Taylor (Shannon), Kelsey (Hunter), Melanie, Mason, Emma, Tyla, Ricky, Meri, Lincoln, Mattie (Cory), Ashley (James), Mike, Brooklyn, Payton, and Hannah; great-grandchildren, Ruxin, Mia, Nichole, and Rayne; siblings, Ellen (Vern) Redenbaugh, Candy (Dawn) Good, Mitzi (Harold) Glowacki, Kathy (Willard) Rehbein, Brenda (Joe) Kwapick, Pete (Lowell) Dougherty, Jacki (Jason) Johnson, and Jason Fjosne; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Barb, Scott, Nate, Russ, Albert, Craig, Dewy, Dean, and many, many more.
