Rodney A.
Paulson
January 18, 1944 – November 28, 2022
Rodney Allen Paulson, 78, Moose Lake, died peacefully at his home on Monday, November 28, 2022.
He was born on January 18, 1944 in Moose Lake. He married Marie Metso on April 3, 1965 and together, raised 5 children on their dairy farm outside of Moose Lake. After the children grew up, he sold the herd and worked at the local Coop and Nursing Home before purchasing his first Wood-Mizer Sawmill and finding his second passion. Rodney sawed over a million board feet of lumber for people in the area. He especially loved sawing for the Mueller family and other Meadowlands residents. Rodney also loved going to the Brainerd International Raceway to watch his son-in-law and daughter race and made a whole new racing family. You could find him sitting on the short wall at the starting line watching the stockers run or in the pits with the guys.
Rodney was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie; his son Mark; his parents: Russell and Mildred Paulson; brothers: Russell "Bud" Paulson, Clifford "Tiny" Paulson, and Gordon Paulson; sisters: Isabelle Walker and Delores Johnson.
He is survived by his sister: Betty Larson of Kettle River; 4 children: Sheryl (Brad) Moe of Breezy Point, Russell Paulson of Moose Lake, Cindy (Tracy) Fairchild of Aitkin and Sandra (Tim) Strom of Barnum; 17 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A special thank you to the Hospice Team at Essentia Duluth, especially, Ryann, Matt and Jennifer. We could not have honored his wishes of transitioning at home without their 24/7 support.
Memorials are preferred to support the Miller Dwan Foundation/Solvay Hospice House at SolvayHospiceHouse.org.
A Memorial Visitation will be from Noon – 2pm on Saturday, December 3, 2022 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. There will be no formal service but rather a time of gathering with family and friends to share stories and remember a life well lived.
