Roger M. Nelson
Roger Milton Nelson, formerly of Duluth, died on November 4, 2008 in Mahwah, N.J. Roger was born in Duluth on October 26, 1934 to J. L. Milton and Myrtle Nelson.
During his childhood, Roger lived in Port Wing, WI, Sedro Wooley, WA, and Lamberton, MN. The family moved to Duluth in 1946 where Roger's father served as Pastor of Concordia Lutheran Church. Roger attended Duluth East Jr. and Sr. High School. He graduated from Iron River, MI High School in 1952. Following his college years at Gustavus Adolphus College, Roger served in the U.S. Army spending a tour of duty in Japan.
He began his career in business living and working many years in NJ. At the time of his death, he was serving as Vice President at Pearson Education-School Division, Upper Saddle River, NJ.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Joanne Moll; and extended family members.
Survived by sisters: Janette (Ernie) Muller of Moose Lake; Avis (Ross) Paulson of Shakopee; brother: David Nelson of Marshalltown, IA; nieces and nephews, and daughter: Carrie Anne Garrelts of Tarpon Springs, FL.
A Private Service will be held on April 25, 2009 in Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake with inurnment at Blomskog Cemetery, Windemere Twp., Pine County.
