Roger Lee Switzer, 87, resident of Sturgeon Lake, died peacefully on Thursday, December 31 st , 2020 in Augustana Care Center, Moose Lake. He was born in Holyoke on May 24 th , 1933 to Orval and Sena (Sipple) Switzer.
Roger grew up in the area, graduating from Barnum High School. He was drafted into the Army, serving honorably from 1953 – 1955. After his time in the military, Roger worked with his brother, Phil, and drove milk truck. Roger also hauled petroleum products for years and drove over one million miles, accident free! He was a proud member of the Moose Lake American Legion and an active member of Oak Lake Lutheran Church.
Roger also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren including his many nieces, nephews and friends. He was always singing to his friends and family and was well known as the singing cowboy.
Roger was loved by many and will be missed by family and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine Willoughby and his second wife, Dorothy; and step-son, William "Bill" Saari.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Shirley Griffith; children, Sheree (Mike) Johnston, Shane (Gina) Switzer, and Stuart Switzer; his brother, Larry Switzer; sisters, Garnett Zerwas, Ruby Tischer; step-children, Kathy Berndt, Randy (Betty) Berndt, Scott Berndt, Susan Hansen, Mary Paske, and Dennis "Mike" Saari; grandchildren, Keith (Lacy) Johnston, Nick (Marlo) Switzer, Chris (Aubrey) Johnston, Michael (Nastia) Switzer and Caleb Switzer. Numerous nieces and nephews including his numerous great grandchildren.
A memorial service to honor Roger's life will be held at a later date.
