Ronald "Ron" Bushman, Sr.

Ronald "Ron" Bushman, Sr., 80, Barnum, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011 in Essentia Health, Duluth.
He was born on June 23, 1930 in Schneider, Indiana to Clyde and Marjorie Bushman. Ron grew up in Hammond, IN. Ron began his 40 year career of being a meat cutter at a very young age. On August 15, 1948, Ron married his first wife, Dolores in Valparaiso, IN. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the 1st Infantry 8th Division from 1948 until being Honorably Discharged in 1951. In 1967 after his wife, Dolores's death, Ron moved to Barnum. He continued working in Duluth and later Cloquet as a meat cutter retiring in 1991. Ron was a member of the UFC Local 12. On April 27, 1985, Ron married Donette Lambert in Duluth. They continued living in Barnum. He loved his grandchildren, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and being in the outdoors. Ron was a member of the Peterson-Westerberg American Legion #415 of Barnum and Holy Angels Catholic Church in Moose Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Clyde and Marjorie Bushman; first wife: Dolores V. Bushman; siblings: Rose, Albert, and Juanita; two daughters: Tanya and Lucinda; and a son: Brian.

Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Donette; 6 children: Patricia (James) House of New Salisbury, IN; Richard (Sharon) Bushman of Cloquet; Ronald, Jr. (Charlene) Bushman of Onalaska, WI; Juanita Johnson of Hermantown; Kimberly Hall of San Diego, CA; and Patrick Bushman of Galesville, WI;
6 step-children: Leo (Cheryl) Lambert, Jr. of Duluth; Lynette Waldow of Sandstone; Loretta (Steve) Jurek of Mahtowa; Lucy (Duane) Mattson of Moose Lake; Allan (Beverly) Lambert of Britt; and Scott Lambert of Kettle River; 40 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; a sister: Eva (Fran) Boudreau of Hammond, IN; and a brother: David Bushman of Cloquet.

Visitation was held from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, May 23, 2011 in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake. Father Eamonn Boland was the celebrant. Regi Garvey and the Holy Angels Choir provided the music. Military Honors were provided by the Sturgeon Lake-Denham American Legion Post #361. Cremation followed the Mass with private family inurnment held at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Barnum. Memorials are preferred.


The family would like to thank the staff at Essentia ICU & Essentia Hospice for the care and comfort they provided for Ron.
