Ronald F. Metso

Ronald F. Metso, 54, Maple Grove, formerly of Kettle River, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 in North Memorial Hospital, Robbinsdale, MN. He was born on March 26, 1958 in Duluth to Harold and Josephine Metso. Ron grew up on the family farm in Automba Township and attended Kalevala School and later Barnum High School graduating in 1976. Ron attended UMD where he played basketball until 1980 when he went to Europe to play and coach basketball in Luxembourg. Ron returned to UMD in 1981 and received his B.A. in Physical Education. In May of 1983, Ron began working for American Family Insurance as an agent and operated Ron Metso Agency in Maple Grove. He was a member of St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church in Maple Grove. Ron was very special to many. In 1990, Ron suffered an accident which left him paralyzed. He was very determined and proud to maintain his business and be self-sufficient throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his Father: Harold Metso in 2001; and his Brother: Michael Metso in 2012.

Ronald will be lovingly remembered by his Mother: Josephine Metso of Moose Lake; Sister-In-Law: Wendy Metso of Cloquet; Nephew: Eric (Lacie) Metso of Monticello and their two children Kendall and Owen whom Ron truly adored; his Niece: Danielle Metso (Christopher Gonzalez) of Cloquet; Godmother and Aunt: Barbara Pasek-Brown of Palo Alto, CA; and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends.

A Memorial Visitation will be from 10 am until the 11 am Memorial Mass on Saturday, July 28, 2012 in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Split Rock Twp.

Memorials can be made to the Barnum High School Athletic Fund in Memory of Ron Metso.
