Ronald "Jiggs" Jacob Osborne, 75, of Barnum, died on December 10, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth, MN. Ronald was born in Mahtowa, MN on August 20, 1933 to Edward and Hilma (Ronkainen) Osborne. He attended and graduated from Barnum High School in 1951 and from Dunwoody in 1952. Ronald served two years in the Army stationed in Ft. Monroe, VA. After his service he worked for Erickson Lift, Carlton Machine Shop and Conoco Oil Refinery in Wrenshall and in Denver as a Pipefitter Welder until his retirement in 1984. He was active in the Carlton County Historical Society, Carlton County Fair, and at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Ronald loved four wheeling with his grandchildren, hunting, John Deere tractors and traveling with his wife.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Betty Hoffman and three brothers, Russell, John, and Robert Osborne.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Shirley; sons, Jay (Karen) Osborne; Bill (Karen) Osborne; and Tom (Jennifer) Osborne; daughter Sharlene (Mike) Killorin; Grandchildren, Laura (Brian) Durmaskin, Sarah, Josh, & Leah Osborne, Tim, Sean, & Kelly Killorin; Rachel, Jessica, Paul, & Heidi Osborne; Emily,Wil, Mary, & Andrew Osborne; One sister, Eunice Olson; and many other close relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 13 at 2:00 P.M. in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Barnum. Pastor Brad Vogt officiated. Music was provided by Jackie Vogt and John Sippola. Casket Bearers were Jeremy Anderson, Greg Norum, Gary Olson, Jack Osborne, Jamie Osborne, and Tony Osborne. Burial was in the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Barnum.
