Ronald Duane
Quittem
February 25, 1933 – June 21, 2019
Ronald Duane Quittem, 86, died peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2019, at home with his family by his side. Ron was born on February 25, 1933 to Oscar and Bertilda Hanson Quittem and grew up on their family farm in Wanamingo, MN.
He served four years in the United States Air Force. He then graduated from Swift and Company's business program. Ron met De Larson on her senior skip day from Orono High School at Taylors Falls. De couldn't resist the good-looking boy on the Harley Davidson motorcycle offering free rides. In 1955, Ron and De married and together they raised three children and lived in the same home in Inver Grove Heights for approximately 40 years; here their children and grandchildren gained fond memories of enjoying the outdoors and the trees that Ron planted that bordered the property. Ron raised horses and was an avid bird and wildlife enthusiast. Ron loved playing softball, basketball, racquetball, golf, or any sport with a ball involved! He would take his family to as many collegiate or professional sports games so he could share with them his love of sports! Ron was thrilled when his own children and grandchildren shared his passion for sports and activities. De and Ron cherished every opportunity to cheer on and support their family over the years.
In 1995, Ron retired after being a long time member of the Teamsters Union. He was a hard working family man who enjoyed being a kid at heart. He brought joy to all those he encountered and loved to make people laugh. In retirement Ron and De spent twenty- two Winters in their home in Sun City West, AZ and their last eight years in their summer home in Sturgeon Lake, MN.
