Russell L. Eckstine
Russell L. Eckstine, 63, Hinckley, died on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake. He was born on March 1, 1947 in Steamboat Springs, CO to Charles and Thelma Eckstine. Russell grew up in Colorado and later attended Orthodontic Technician school in Houston, TX. Russell was a Veteran of the United States Army and had served on Special Forces as an Army Airborne Medic. On March 6, 1971, Russell married Mary Wixon in San Antonio, TX. They lived in Colorado where Russell worked for the City of Steamboat Springs in the Street and Water Department. In 1982, they moved to Minnesota. He worked at Marshall's Strawberry Farm and later at the Moose Lake Regional Treatment Center. In 2004, they moved to Talihina, OK where they lived until moving back to Minnesota in 2009. Russell loved hunting, fishing, cooking, gardening, and hobby farming.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Thelma Eckstine.
Russell will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 39 years: Mary; 3 Children: Kirk (Nora) of Moose Lake; Amy Thomas of Stillwater; and Heath (Christina) Eckstine of Barnum; 10 Grandchildren;
1 Great Grandchild; 2 Sisters: Nancy (Mike) Pierce of Roseburg, OR and Susan (Birchie) DeBuano of Saliva, CO; and numerous friends.
Visitation was from 10 AM until the 11 AM service on Saturday, July 10, 2010 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Military Honors were by the Moose Lake American Legion Honor Guard.
