Ruth A. Hrubes

Ruth A. Hrubes, 92, Sturgeon Lake, died peacefully on Thursday, July 26, 2018 in Oakwood Assisted Living, Moose Lake.  She was born on January 9, 1926 to Edward and Marie Moravec in Chicago where she grew up and attended school.  Ruth worked as a beautician in Chicago.  On March 8, 1947, Ruth married Milton Hrubes in Chicago.  In 1951, they moved to Birch Creek Twp. where they dairy farmed until 1971.  As a city girl, Ruth adapted amazingly to country life and made the most of it.  Ruth also waitressed at the Flamingo and worked at Luoma's Egg Ranch.  In 1990, Ruth moved to Sun Bay in Sturgeon Lake where she was the assistant manager and loved to organize activities.  She was a hard worker and enjoyed gardening, cooking, making bread, crocheting, knitting, and making arts and crafts.  Ruth made thousands of wreaths which she sold locally and also to Bachman's in the Twin Cities.  She loved to entertain and made sure you didn't leave her house without eating or having coffee and cookies.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton; and two sisters: Patricia and Luverne.

Ruth will be lovingly remembered by daughter: Pamela (James) Cunneen of Plainfield, IL; son: Jeffrey (Patricia) Hrubes of Nevis; three grandchildren: James (Gina) Cunneen, Bonnie (Frank) Messina, and William (Alida) Cunneen; 4 great grandchildren: Benjamin, Vincent, Jacob, and Max.

Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday, August 3, 2018 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake and continue from 9 am until the 10 am funeral service on Saturday, August 4, 2018 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.  Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Willow River, MN.
