Ruth E. Johnson

Ruth E. Johnson, 92, Barnum, died Wednesday, July 11, 2018 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake.  She was born on May 13, 1926 to Carl and Esther Johnson in Duluth.  Ruth lived in Two Harbors and later Barnum where she graduated from Barnum High School in 1944.  Ruth moved to Duluth and worked as a bookkeeper in the shipyards and later moved back to Barnum where she continued to work as a bookkeeper in the Barnum Creamery.  On June 8, 1949, Ruth married Edward C. Johnson in Barnum Methodist Church.  They dairy farmed in Barnum Twp. where Ruth was also a homemaker through the years.  Ruth was a very active member of Barnum Community United Methodist Church and was involved in several positions for United Methodist Women and was a Sunday School Teacher.  She worked hard all her life and took time to enjoy sewing, cooking, gardening, and knitting.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Edward C. Johnson; brother: Carl Johnson; and her parents: Carl and Esther Johnson.

She will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Susan (Jerry) DaPra of Wrenshall; Edward K. (Janet Ramsey) Johnson of Barnum; and Sharon (Mark) Riemer of Owatonna; 4 grandchildren: Edward (Eileen) DaPra; Lynet (Roger Schrader) DaPra, Vicki (Jarett) Howe; and Kathy (Alex) Kurland; 8 great grandchildren: Skyla DaPra, Kylan DaPra, Layna DaPra, Augustus Schrader, Levin Schrader, Stella Howe, Greta Howe, and Jacob Kurland; a soon to be expected great grandchild; sister-in-law: Janet Johnson; and 4 nephews: Duane Johnson, Darrell Johnson,  David Johnson,  and Dan Johnson.

Visitation will be from 10 am until the 11 am service on Monday, July 16, 2018 in Barnum Community United Methodist Church.  Pastor Phillip Swensson will officiate.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Barnum.
