Obituary

Sandra Faye Spicer was born on August 30, 1946, in Sandstone, Minnesota, to Robert and Betty Spicer. On October 18, 2026, the Lord took her hand and welcomed her home. Sandi leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Sandi grew up in the Askov, Minnesota, area and graduated from Askov High School. She continued her education at Winona State University, where she studied in the secretarial field. Throughout her life, she held a variety of jobs, including working as a switchboard operator at the State Hospital in Moose Lake and spending many years at the Star Gazette, where she helped build the newspaper. She also worked in banking and enjoyed decorating cakes alongside her daughter.

Sandi married her husband, David Edwin Koecher, on October 28,1967. Together, they built a family and a lifetime of memories in Kerrick, Minnesota. They enjoyed attending auctions, visiting garage sales, gardening, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. Above all, Sandi treasured the time she spent with her children and grandchildren, who were the heart of her world.

She was a loving mother to her daughter, Karen (David) Lundstrom, of North Branch; and her son, Matthew (Tina) Koecher, of Kerrick. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Kyle and Tyler Lundstrom and Lucas, Delaney, Madison, and Arie Koecher. Each of her grandchildren held a special place in her heart and brought her immeasurable joy.

Sandi had a remarkable gift for caring for others. She was a caretaker to many, always offering an open door, a warm hug, and something delicious to eat. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and togetherness, where friends and family could gather and feel at ease. She seemed to know instinctively when someone needed a shoulder to lean on, a listening ear, or a little extra love. Her generosity and compassion touched countless lives, and she made people feel welcome, valued, and cared for.

She loved her many nieces and nephews as if they were her own and deeply treasured the special relationships she shared with them.

Sandi was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Betty Spicer, and her husband, David. She is survived by her daughter, Karen (David); her son, Matthew (Tina); her six beloved grandchildren; her siblings, Claudia DuPuis, Roberta Bourassa, and Bruce Spicer; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

David and Sandi were members of Oak Lake Lutheran Church in Kerrick, where they enjoyed fellowship and being part of their church community.

Sandi will be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile, generous spirit, and unwavering love for her family and friends. She gave so much of herself to others, often in the simplest yet most meaningful ways. The comfort she offered, the friendships she nurtured, and the love she shared will remain a lasting part of her legacy.

Though her absence leaves a deep ache in the hearts of those who loved her, the memories she created and the kindness she showed will live on for generations. Her love will continue to shine through the lives she touched, the family she cherished, and the many people who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Oak Lake Lutheran Church in Kerrick, Minnesota. The burial will follow the service.

Arrangements are being handled by Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home in Moose Lake, Minnesota.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Encore Memory Center in Hugo, Minnesota. Their compassion, kindness, and support during Sandi’s remaining days were exceptional. The family is deeply grateful for the care and comfort they provided.
