Shirley Tschida, 97, Moose Lake, died on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in Augustana Mercy Health Care Center, Moose Lake. She was born on March 26, 1921 in Wrenshall to Alfred Sullivan and Merlyn (Habhegger) Sullivan. Shirley grew up in Wrenshall where attended high school graduating as Salutatorian of her class. After school, Shirley attended nursing school in Moose Lake and later went to California and worked at Douglas Aircraft for two years. On August 1, 1944, Shirley married Richard Tschida in Moose Lake. After her husband came back from WWII, they lived in Moose Lake where Shirley worked at the Moose Lake State Hospital and later for Downtown Dental. She was a very active member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and St. Ann's Guild. Shirley loved to read and play dominoes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; mother and step-father: Merlyn and Silas Severied; father: Alfred Sullivan; and an infant sister.
Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her four children: Jerry (Renee) Tschida of Wrenshall, Jeanne (Darwin) Hammitt of Moose Lake; Jane Klejeski of Moose Lake; and Rob (Mary) Tschida of Cloquet; 8 grandchildren whom Shirley loved dearly: Adam (Julie) Klejeski, Julie (Matt) Lucas, Jacob Hammitt, Joshua (Haley) Hammitt, Kristie (Matt) Laveau, Aaron (Megan) Tschida, Troy (Amber) Olson, and Abigail (Steven) Rautio; 13 great grandchildren; 5 step granddaughters: Heather, Allie, Sophie, Hannah, and Zoë; 5 step great grandchildren; special niece: Pat Riegger; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 11 am in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Father Kris McKusky will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Moose Lake.
