Shirleyann Nelson, 80, of Barnum, MN died Saturday, August 16, 2008 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake.  She was born September 2, 1927 in Freedom Township, MN to Allen and Eva (Shults) Simmerman.  Shirleyann was united in marriage to Edwin J. Nelson on September 2, 1948 in Minneapolis, MN.  Shirleyann was involved in Questers and was both a reading tutor and a Girl Scout Leader.  She was a member of the Women's League of Voters, World Council of Churches and the Yankton Historical Society.Shirleyann is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin J. Nelson; her parents; 1 sister, Harriet Appleby.Shirleyann is survived by 1 son, E. Allen (Cindy) Nelson of Sturgeon Lake, MN; 1 daughter, Janet (James) Anderson of Denver, CO; 4 grandchildren, Brynn J. Nelson, Holly A. Anderson, Erin M. Nelson and Nicholas J. Anderson; 3 great grandchildren, Alexis Anderson-Waxon, Caydyn Levi-Anderson and Dallas Nelson.
