Stuart E. Johnson

Stuart E. Johnson, 90, Moose Lake, died Saturday, April 8, 2017 in Mercy Hospital, Moose Lake.  He was born on September 17, 1926 in Holt, MN to Carl and Anna Johnson.  He attended Moose Lake High School graduating in 1944.  Stuart was an Army Veteran of WWII.  He lived and worked for a short time in California.  On September 14, 1957, Stuart married Ione Folstad in Shelly, MN.  Stuart worked for Sears for a few years and in 1960 purchased the dry-cleaning business in Moose Lake which he operated for over 33years as S & I Cleaners.  Stuart was very active in his community and served on Moose Lake School Board, Moose Lake Federal Credit Union Board, Moose Lake Housing Authority, Moose Lake Windemere Sewer Board, and the Moose Lake Golf Course Board.  He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Moose Lake.  Stuart volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the Moose Lake Food Shelf.  He enjoyed golf, bowling, books, puzzles, and his tree farm.

Stuart was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Anna Johnson; and a sister, Arlyne Olsen.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Ione; son: Mark (Lori) Johnson of Breezy Point; daughter: Pamela (Rick) Nelson of Moose Lake; grandson: Mikel (Chelsea) Nelson of Barnum; great granddaughter: Lilly; brother: Arnold (Evelyn) Johnson of Plymouth; niece and nephews: Susan Henley, Steven Johnson, David Johnson, Larry Johnson and Bradley Johnson; and numerous friends.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM Memorial Service on Monday, April 17, 2017 in Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake.  Military Honors will follow the memorial service.
