Thelma Amelia Johnson
Thelma Amelia Johnson, 94, Barnum, died peacefully on Thursday, November 25, 2010 in Augustana Mercy Care Center, Moose Lake. She was born on March 29, 1916 in Skelton Township to William and Bertha Koenig. Thelma attended Cromwell High School graduating in 1934. On June 10, 1934, Thelma married Joseph "Buster" Johnson. Thelma did house cleaning in the area and also worked in the kitchen at the Moose Lake Hotel. She also worked for over 12 years as a housekeeper for the Moose Lake State Hospital retiring at the age of 70. Thelma was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Barnum. She loved animals and especially her dog, Blue. Thelma received great enjoyment from feeding birds. She was a very kind person and loved visiting with family and friends.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband: Joseph "Buster" Johnson on February 7, 1977; her parents; and a sister: Viola Pederson.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters: Mae (Art) Line of Cloquet and Kay (Jack) Tremain of Duluth; 6 Grandchildren: Diane (James) Johnson, Susan (R-Dell) Nelson, David (Aileen) Line, Joseph Tremain, Danita Haluptzok, and Douglas (Karen) Tremain; 7 Great Grandchildren: Brandi, Ashley, Brianna, Kelsey, Kyle, Shawn, and Martin; 4 Great Great Grandchildren: Aydin, Nevyn, Andrea, Finn; 6 Step Grandchildren; and a special cousin: Evelyn Lemire of Redding, CA.
A Gathering of Family and Friends was held from 10 AM until the 11 AM Memorial Service on Saturday, December 4, 2010 in Emmanuel Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, Barnum. Pastor Brad Vogt officiated. Honorary Bearers were Dale Halverson, Alvin Oachs, Jay Oachs, Gerald Smith, Richard Nelson, Stan Hopkins, and Mark Faber. Inurnment was in Riverside Cemetery, Barnum.
Memorial are preferred to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
