Theodore James LaFontaine, 92, Sturgeon Lake, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018 in Sandstone Area Nursing Home. He was born on September 22, 1925 in Shevlin, MN to Felix and Florence LaFontaine. He grew up in the Bemidji area where he attended school. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII. On February 19, 1944, Ted married his wife, Marie in Solway, MN. He continued serving the Navy after their marriage and later returned to the Bemidji area. Ted and Marie later moved to Maplewood where he worked for the Twin Cities Carpenter's Union through the years. Ted was a member of the Moose Lodge and VFW in Maplewood and also attended Cross Lutheran Church. They moved to Sturgeon Lake after Ted retired and attended St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Moose Lake. Ted loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, and creating tools to help him with projects.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie in 1993.
Ted will be lovingly remembered by his three children: James (Cynthia) LaFontaine of Sturgeon Lake; Jerry LaFontaine of Sandstone; and Bonnie (Ali) Noghabaie of Wyoming; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
Private family services will be held in September 2018 with inurnment at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Silver Township, Carlton County.
